From the Principal

The Year 12 Farewell Mass and Assembly provided us with the opportunity to thank and congratulate the 2016 Year 12 cohort; a group of girls who have brought great joy, enthusiasm and fun to the College all the while aiming for excellence in their studies. 

Wednesday 19 October saw the Mary MacKillop College community come together to celebrate all things sport. The gymnasium was transformed from a place of running and jumping into a venue in which the achievements and stories from 2016 could be shared. Under the leadership of the House captains, this year we welcomed Australian Olympian Jessica Trengove, Old Scholar and current State Basketballer Alex Ciabattoni, and the Time in Space Circus Company to share the evening with us.

From the Director of Curriculum

The focus of the Week 1 Academic Assembly was Academic Excellence. To explore what this actually meant I, of course, Googled the concept and found some interesting reflections from the University of California which I shared with the students.

Principal’s Academic Awards for Term 3, 2016 were awarded to:

On Thursday 20 October our College ‘pinked up’ and held the Breast Cancer Mini Field of Women event.  On the day we payed tribute to people and families affected by breast cancer by exhibiting 100 pink lady silhouettes displaying messages of support and hope.  We thank the school community for their participation and thoughtful messages.

On Friday 16 September the Year 10 Art and Year 11 Design students listened to guest speaker Nathan Elmer from CDW (Concept Design Workshop) Studios. Nathan is the High School Liaison Officer for CDW Studios, based in the Adelaide CBD.

Parents and friends are invited to volunteer in the canteen which is a great opportunity to broaden friendships and enhance the environment for our MacKillop girls. If you are able to join our happy crew of volunteers, by helping for a few hours, from as little as once a month to weekly or daily, our Canteen Manager Narelle Matthews would love to hear from you!
